Jonathan Bayer is currently a Course Instructor (Winter 2025) and a Research Fellow (University College Fellow in Early American History) at the University of Toronto. He earned his PhD in History from the University of Western Ontario, an MA in History from the University of Windsor, and a BA from Walla Walla University.
- Teaches courses on racialization in colonial America, Canadian-American relations, the early American press, and historical contexts of Hamilton: An American Musical
- Has taught as a sessional lecturer at University College, University of Toronto Mississauga, University of Western Ontario, Wilfrid Laurier University, Huron University College, and Brescia University College
His research interests span the Atlantic World, settler colonialism, national identities, and digital history methods. Dr. Bayer focuses on historical narratives connecting North America and international systems.
