About
John R. Cable is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Chemistry Department at Bowling Green State University's College of Arts and Sciences. With a career spanning over three decades since joining in 1989, he specializes in determining structures of conformationally flexible molecules and investigating solvation/hydrogen bonding effects through vibrationally resolved electronic spectroscopy in ultracold supersonic jet expansions.
- Education: Ph.D. (Cornell University, 1986), M.S. (University of California-Riverside, 1980), B.S. (University of California-Riverside, 1979)
His research focuses on molecular interactions in hydrogen-bonded clusters, particularly phenyl-substituted amines/amides, using high-resolution spectroscopic techniques to elucidate binding modes and structural changes. Current work combines experimental investigations with advanced computational models.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in vibronic coupling, isomer spectroscopy, and metal-complex photoluminescence, demonstrating interdisciplinary applications in chemical physics and materials science.
