Liuling Liu

Dr. Liuling Liu is a Professor of Finance at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), holding the Ashel/Bryan Huntington Bank Professorship (2021–2026). She earned her Ph.D. in Finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and an M.S. in Actuarial Science from the University of Kent, UK. Prior to BGSU, she was a Visiting Scholar at New York University’s Stern School of Business and Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business. Her research focuses on financial institutions, corporate finance, capital markets, and regulatory frameworks, with a particular emphasis on banking stability, deposit insurance, and ESG factors. Dr. Liu has received prestigious awards for her scholarly contributions, including the Leadership Council Faculty Excellence Award (2019) and the Robert A. Patton Scholarly Achievement Award (2019).

Her work has been published in top-tier journals such as Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Journal of Banking & Finance. Key research themes include the impact of deposit insurance on global financial crises, the role of social networks in risk-taking behaviors of bank CEOs, and the integration of corporate social responsibility into lending practices. Dr. Liu’s recent studies explore cross-border banking dynamics, interbank loan regulations, and the effects of convertible bonds in emerging markets.
