John David Rausch serves as the Teel Bivins Professor of Political Science in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice at West Texas A&M University, part of the Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences. He joined the department in 1998 and maintains an active presence in both teaching and research.
Dr. Rausch earned his academic credentials from the University of Oklahoma, receiving his M.A. in 1992 and Ph.D. in 1995, following a B.A. in political science from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1989.
His research portfolio centers on legislative studies, with particular expertise in term limitations, direct democracy, and religion's intersection with politics. He has developed survey research projects focused on issues relevant to local and statewide political science. Dr. Rausch has demonstrated innovation in educational methodology, particularly in online instruction.

As an Eagle Scout, he maintains a commitment to community service alongside his academic work.
