John Daly

John Daly is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at The University of Texas at Austin, holding the Liddell Centennial Professorship of Communication, University Distinguished Teaching Professor, and TCB Professor of Management titles. He earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University and has established himself as a leading scholar in practical communication applications.

His research focuses on improving interpersonal communication skills through examining relationship dynamics and advocacy techniques, with emphasis on real-world applications for professional and personal success. He teaches core courses including Interpersonal Communication (Fall 2024: Tues/Thurs 3:15-4:15 PM), Leadership, Crisis Management, and Organizational Behavior.

Dr. Daly has received every campus-wide undergraduate teaching award at UT Austin and maintains active professional service through global organizational consulting. His editorial leadership includes serving as editor for Communication Education and Written Communication, with additional service on numerous journal editorial boards.
