Trey Guinn

Dr. Trey Guinn is a Full Professor and Assistant Dean in the Communication Arts department at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). He holds dual roles as a scholar, teacher, and practitioner, specializing in communication effectiveness and human relationships. His professional engagements include teaching at UT-Austin’s Texas Executive Education since 2010 and serving as a Business Communication Specialist for McCombs School of Business.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Communication from The University of Texas at Austin
• B.A. and M.S. degrees from Baylor University

Research & Expertise: Focuses on executive presence, personal branding, presentational effectiveness, business pitches, interview preparation, interpersonal dynamics, and team collaboration. Consults globally for top firms like Apple, Google, Microsoft, and McKinsey.

Awards: Recipient of the 2023 Presidential Teaching Award for excellence in education.

Teaching & Leadership: Teaches undergraduate courses in Communication Arts (Orientation, Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking) and graduate courses (Practicum in Professional Communication, Relational Communication). Serves as an executive coach and public speaker, emphasizing leadership and communication skills.
