John Clark

John Clark serves as Adjunct Associate Professor of Music at Connecticut College's Music Department since joining in 2004, specializing in Jazz, American Music, and History of Western Music instruction.

His academic background includes:

• B.A. in Music, Connecticut College (Class of 1990)
• Advanced degrees from University of Maryland and Brandeis University

As an American music historian, Clark focuses on jazz performance analysis and historical contexts. He publishes scholarly articles in journals including American Music, Musicians and Composers of The 20th Century, and The Encyclopedia of African-American Music, while serving as CD reviewer for the International Association of Jazz Record Collectors Journal.

Clark chairs the Hall of Fame Committee for the New England Jazz Alliance, overseeing nomination and election processes for regional jazz recognition.

Actively performing as a musician, he leads the Wolverine Jazz Band and substitutes with ensembles including New Black Eagle Jazz Band and Paramount Jazz Band of Boston, with international tours across England, Wales, Canada, and the U.S.
