Dr. Jodi Jacobson serves as the Associate Director of the Texas State Center for Archaeological Studies. With over 25 years of experience, she specializes in zooarchaeology, cultural resource management (CRM), and regulatory compliance. Her work spans prehistoric/historic faunal analysis, environmental reconstruction, and CRM project management across multiple U.S. states. She leads projects for federal agencies, municipalities, and private clients, focusing on NEPA compliance, Section 106 compliance, and endangered species assessments.
Previously, she held roles in corporate archaeology, advancing to Regional and National Director roles. Her academic background includes affiliations with museums, federal agencies, and universities, contributing to archaeological investigations in the southeastern U.S., Texas, and Great Plains. She currently chairs the Council of Texas Archaeologists Standards and Guidelines Committee, emphasizing professional standards in the field.
Dr. Jacobson actively engages students in CRM projects, preparing them for career readiness through hands-on compliance work. Her research explores bone grease/marrow processing and environmental change impacts on human ecology across Texas sites.
