Diane Hanson is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Alaska. Previously, she served as Senior District Archaeologist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She holds a Ph.D. in Archaeology from Simon Fraser University (1991).
Her research focuses on late pre-contact societies in coastal Alaska, particularly zooarchaeology and North Pacific coastal archaeology. Current projects include upland site surveys on Adak Island in the Aleutian Islands. She actively contributes to the Alaska Consortium of Zooarchaeologists and the Alaska Anthropological Association, having held leadership roles in both organizations.
