Joanne Heith

Dr. Joanne Heith is an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Long Island University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a Psy.D. from Heed University for Psychoanalysis and combines her academic expertise with a private psychoanalysis practice in Brooklyn, where she has worked for 17 years.

• Education: B.A. in Psychology/Modern Dance (Washington University, 1979), M.A. in Sports and Fitness Management (NYU, 1985), MSW (NYU, 1994), Psy.D. (Heed University for Psychoanalysis, 2006)
• Specialties: Treating anxiety, mood disorders, and health/wellness issues through individual, couples, and group therapy
• Founder of 'Your Mind is a Muscle,' a counseling service focusing on mind-body connections in fitness goals

As an educator, she teaches courses in Personality and Developmental Theory, Abnormal Psychology, and Health Psychology at LIU Brooklyn.
