Dr. Jennifer S. Harthan is Professor of Optometry and Chief of the Cornea Center for Clinical Excellence at Illinois College of Optometry. A cornea and contact lens specialist, she completed residency training at ICO (2007) before joining faculty. Dr. Harthan leads the SCOPE research team on scleral lens applications and serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the International Keratoconus Academy.
Clinical Expertise: Manages complex cases involving corneal ectasia, ocular surface disease, and postsurgical corneas. Research focuses on specialty contact lens applications with over 40 publications in anterior segment disease.
Recent studies examine scleral lens fitting protocols, intraocular pressure measurement during lens wear, and midday fogging management. She lectures internationally on contact lens innovations and dry eye management strategies.
