Jeffrey Chin

Dr. Jeffrey Chin serves as Professor of Sociology in the Department of Anthropology, Criminology and Sociology at Le Moyne College. Holding a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan (1983), he is recognized as a Carnegie National Scholar by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning and maintains active editorial and leadership roles in key academic organizations.

As a sociologically-trained social psychologist, Dr. Chin specializes in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), with research spanning social psychology, criminology, and anthropological approaches to pedagogy. His work focuses on evidence-based teaching methodologies and systemic improvements in higher education practices, evidenced by extensive publications and editorial leadership in discipline-specific journals.

Dr. Chin served as editor of Teaching Sociology (American Sociological Association's official journal) and currently sits on its Editorial Board. He holds the position of Secretary-Treasurer for Alpha Kappa Delta (international sociology honor society) and has conducted over 50 program reviews nationwide as a member of the American Sociological Association's Department Resources Group. Additionally, he serves as a certification reviewer for the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, providing external evaluation services to academic institutions.
