Alison Marganski, Ph.D., is a Professor and Director of Criminology at Le Moyne College’s Department of Anthropology, Criminology, & Sociology. Since earning her Ph.D. in 2010 from Rutgers University, she has focused on violence-related research, combining interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches to study victimization, perpetration, and prevention.

Research Interests: Dr. Marganski investigates cyber/technology-facilitated violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, stalking, and mass murder. Her work emphasizes risk factors, consequences, and societal responses to violence.
Applied Work & Service: She collaborates with international, national, and local agencies, including the Crime & Justice Alliance (media expert), Association for Applied & Clinical Sociology (board member 2018–2020), and community partners such as sexual/domestic violence agencies and animal welfare organizations. She also serves on the editorial board of Sex Roles.
Scientific Recognition: Dr. Marganski has received accolades for research, teaching, and service, including the Robert Ezra Park Award for Sociological Practice and multiple fellowships. She has consulted for governments and led trauma-related training programs.
