Jeffrey Brison

Dr. Jeffrey Brison is a Professor of History at Queen's University, specializing in North American cultural and intellectual history. His research examines the intersections of culture, philanthropy, and politics, particularly through the lens of cultural diplomacy.

His seminal work, Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Canada, analyzes American philanthropy's role in shaping Canadian national culture. Current research explores cultural diplomacy as critical practice, including projects on Canada's use of cultural institutions in foreign policy and the global positioning of Canadian art. As Director of Cultural Studies, he oversees interdisciplinary graduate education.

Awarded for teaching excellence and graduate supervision, Dr. Brison has mentored over 40 graduate students. His recent publications analyze how exhibitions advance hegemonic values through 'winners' histories' in international contexts.
