Professor Jean Ammar serves as Head of English Language Support at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), a role she has held since 1995. She leads the School of Academic Studies’ in-sessional language support programs and oversees the RNCM Pre-sessional course. A资深 academic with qualifications including a PhD, MEd (TESOL), and MA (Victorian Studies), she specializes in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and has extensive experience in both UK and international education. Her research explores interpersonal communication in educational settings, with a focus on 19th-century Manchester and Victorian literature.
She has received multiple accolades, including the Times Higher Education Award for her innovative Read with the World Project, which fosters cross-cultural exchange between students. Jean’s career spans over four decades, including roles as Director of Studies at the University of Manchester’s Language Centre and examiner for Cambridge ESOL examinations. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), reflecting her contributions to pedagogical excellence.
Her work extends beyond the classroom, emphasizing the intersection of language education and cultural understanding. She collaborates closely with the RNCM’s International Relations team to enhance student integration and academic success.
