Dr. Jan Steffens is Professor for Inclusive Education with a focus on development and participation at Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt since October 2023. He leads the project 'Inclusion in the Resonance Space School (IReS)' funded by the Senator for Science and Ports and Bremerhaven Municipal Council. Previously, he held substitute professorships at University of Koblenz-Landau and Leibniz University Hannover.

His research focuses on teacher training, emotional-social learning conditions, critical exclusion research, and participatory planning processes. His 15 most recent publications (2015-2024) demonstrate expertise in intersubjectivity, resonance theory, trauma studies, and dialectical pedagogy, with particular attention to neurosociological perspectives and decolonial educational frameworks.
He contributes to academic discourse through editorships in journals like Menschen and the ICHS series, and co-organizes the podcast Was mit Menschen. His work emphasizes collaborative school development and inclusive educational processes across Germany and Brazil.
