Jan Doležel is a distinguished organist and educator at the Würzburg University of Music, where he has taught organ since 2012. He also serves as conductor of the Erlangen University Symphony Orchestra since 2018.
His educational background includes studies in Pilsen with Adam Viktora, in Prague with Jaroslav Tůma, in Lübeck with Franz Danksagmüller and Hans-Jürgen Schnoor, and in Würzburg with Christoph Bossert.
Doležel is acclaimed for his mastery of the organ, with special focus on historical instruments and rarely performed compositions. His performance repertoire spans from Baroque works by Bach to contemporary pieces by composers like Kagel and Schoenberg. He places particular emphasis on bringing Czech organ music to wider audiences, performing works by Novak, Dvorak, Janacek, and other Czech masters.

As artistic director of the "Orgelherbst Obereisenheim" festival, Doležel has produced notable performances including staged productions of Georg Muffat's "Apparatus musico-organisticus" and performances of complete works by Max Reger and Heinrich Kaminski. His concert programming features effectively compiled thematic programs and complete cyclic works, with his Reger concert at the Rheingau Music Festival described by the press as "the highlight of the festival".
