Dr. Jamie Litty is a Professor at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP), serving in the Department of Mass Communication since 2001. She previously chaired the department from 2003–2012 and 2016–2024. Her expertise spans audiovisual production, media theory, and ethics. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from The Ohio State University, an M.S. in Mass Communication from Miami University, and a B.A. in Journalism from New York University.
Her research focuses on intellectual property law, realism in video games, gender in sports broadcasting, and media pedagogy. She has advised student media initiatives including the Carolina News Today TV newscast (2001–2004, 2006–2023) and The Hawk internet radio station (2008–2013), and currently advises the Indianhead yearbook. She is active in university governance via the Faculty Senate and nationally through the Broadcast Education Association.
Dr. Litty’s community service includes leadership roles in the Laurinburg/Scotland County Cable Access Committee and the Storytelling and Arts Center of the Southeast. She has received awards for teaching, community service, and professional contributions to communication fields.
