About
Professor Jacqueline Matthews is a Professor of Protein Chemistry at the University of Sydney's School of Life and Environmental Sciences. She is a member of The Centre for Drug Discovery Innovation and co-leads the Mackay & Matthews Labs, focusing on protein structure, function, and engineering. Her research interests include safer insecticides, molecular mechanisms of gene regulation, and LIM-only proteins in blood development.
Key research themes include protein design using mRNA display technology and structural biology studies of transcriptional complexes. Her work spans structural biology, biochemistry, and drug discovery, with contributions to understanding protein interactions and their roles in disease.
- Grants: Includes projects on transcription factor targeting, high-performance X-ray diffraction facilities, and CRFI funding.
- Labs: Collaborates in the Mackay & Matthews Labs, with lab members such as Hon Prof Ron Hill and Dr. Ingrid MacIndoe.
Her publications highlight advancements in protein interactions, gene regulation, and structural biology, with recent work on mRNA display and antifungal agents. She is also a past President of the ASBMB and an active researcher in protein engineering.
