About
Ingrid Macindoe is a Research Fellow at the University of Sydney's School of Life and Environmental Sciences. She completed her PhD in Biochemistry at the same institution in 2010 under Dr. Margie Sunde and has been working in Prof. Joel Mackay’s laboratory since 2014. Her research spans structural biology and cell biology, with a focus on epigenetic regulation mechanisms.
Education: PhD in Biochemistry (University of Sydney, 2010). Supervised by Dr. Margie Sunde.
Research Interests:
- Structural biology of proteins
- Epigenetic control of gene expression (e.g., Ube3a imprinting in Angelman Syndrome)
- Chromatin remodelling and BET protein interactions
- Application of CRISPR/Cas9, RT-qPCR, and ChIP techniques
Laboratory Affiliation: Prof. Joel Mackay’s lab at the Biochemistry and Microbiology Building (G08).
Teaching: Co-supervises PhD, Honours, and international students, with teaching experience in undergraduate labs.
Publications: Focuses on protein structure-function relationships and epigenetic mechanisms, with key contributions to hydrophobin amyloid assembly and chromatin looping studies.
