
About
Jacek Kossut is a Professor at the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, where he has held leadership roles including Director (since 2003) and Head of the Laboratory for Growth and Characterization of Low Dimensional Structures (1994–2003). He was also Deputy Head of Division III (Exact Sciences) of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2007–2010) and Guest Professor at institutions including the University of Notre Dame and Purdue University.
- Education: M.Sc. in Physics (specialization: theory of condensed matter) from Warsaw University (1973); Ph.D. (1976) and Habilitation (1983) at the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences; Professor title awarded by the President of Poland (1992).
Research interests focus on semiconductor physics, including charge carrier transport, band structure, diluted magnetic semiconductors, and quantum phenomena in low-dimensional systems. He established the EU Center of Excellence “Physics of Low Dimensional Systems” at the Institute of Physics (2000 onward).
