Jaap Koot is a Researcher in the Global Health Unit at the Department of Health Sciences, part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen. His work focuses on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), cervical cancer prevention, and public health strategies in low-resource settings. He holds an MBA and is a Medical Doctor, combining clinical expertise with health policy research.
Research interests include cost-effectiveness analysis of cervical cancer screening, hypertension and diabetes prevention in Southeast Asia, and scaling up community-based health interventions. He has contributed to studies in Bangladesh, Uganda, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar, emphasizing culturally adapted approaches and policy engagement.
