Michael Chung

Dr. Michael Chung is a Professor at Emory University's Department of Medicine and an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington. His career spans nearly two decades of global health program implementation across Africa and Southeast Asia, with current research focusing on cervical cancer screening in HIV-positive women, HIV chronic pulmonary disease, and cardiovascular complications of COVID-19.

His research integrates epidemiology and clinical interventions for non-communicable diseases in resource-limited settings, with a strong emphasis on HIV comorbidities and women's health. Dr. Chung leads NIH Fogarty D43 and G11 grants to build research capacity in HPV-related studies and administrative infrastructure. He co-founded Nairobi's Coptic Hope Center for Infectious Diseases and maintains affiliations with academic institutions in Kenya, Vietnam, and the United States.
