Isabella Bartoli is a PhD fellow in Philosophy at the University of Oslo and the University of St. Andrews, under the supervision of Joey Pollock, Derek Ball, and Sanford Goldberg. She holds the position of Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oslo since August 2024. Her research focuses on social and political philosophy of language, feminist social epistemology, and conceptual engineering, with emphasis on metasemantics and the implementation of socially significant concepts.
Her work explores how language shapes social structures through feminist philosophy and examines biases in conceptual frameworks. Key themes include the role of experts in revising socially impactful terms and addressing epistemic responsibilities in conceptual engineering.
Bartoli has presented at multiple academic events, including an invited talk on “Social Externalism and the Implementation Challenge: Revising Socially Significant Social Kind Terms” (Oct 2024), and delivered presentations on conceptual implementation challenges at conferences in 2022–2024. These talks highlight her engagement with theoretical and applied dimensions of social epistemology.
No scientific awards or grants are explicitly noted in her profile. She is affiliated with both universities but no specific labs or collaborative teams are mentioned.
