About
Dr. Isabel Hamshaw is a Lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Bath. Her research focuses on cancer biology, particularly on chemokine receptors and their role in cancer metastasis.
Her research interests include:
- Cancer cell migration and metastasis
- Chemokine receptor CXCR4 signaling
- Development of CXCR4 antagonists for cancer treatment
- Role of prostaglandins in labor and preterm birth
Dr. Hamshaw's recent work shows a strong focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cancer cell migration and developing targeted therapies to prevent metastasis. Her research combines pharmacological approaches with cellular and molecular biology techniques to investigate receptor signaling pathways in cancer cells.
Her scientific contributions include:
- Development of fluorescent tools to study CXCR4 receptor interactions
- Investigation of protein kinase pathways in cancer cell migration
- Research on prostaglandin signaling in myometrial cells
Dr. Hamshaw actively participates in academic conferences including the Pharmacology annual meetings and the Norwich Cancer Research Network Symposium, where she has presented both as a speaker and poster presenter.
