Hope Xu Yan

Hope Xu Yan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Louisiana State University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research examines health disparities, family dynamics, and social stratification through quantitative methods including structural equation modeling and causal inference techniques.

Education includes a Ph.D. from University of Maryland (2024) and experience working with large-scale social surveys like the American Time Use Survey and China Family Panel Studies.

Research focuses on how racial-ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic inequalities manifest within families, with current investigations into motherhood impacts, time-use disparities, and women's well-being in cross-cultural contexts.
