Gregory Cowley is an Assistant Professor in the Interaction Design Program at California College of the Arts (CCA), where he contributes to the intersection of design, technology, and digital art. He teaches courses related to interaction design and brings extensive industry experience as a software engineer and digital artist.
His research and creative work span interaction design, digital and kinetic new media, front-end development, and creative coding. He has worked on diverse projects involving dynamic web interfaces, real-time digital galleries, and user-centered software applications for major brands and startups.
Notable projects include the Nike Skateboarding Website with an animated shoe browser, the Mobile Phone Photo Show—the first gallery exhibit of cell phone photography—UI development for the Ouya Game Console, and engineering work on Blurb’s Bookify platform. He has also contributed to content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla) and developed tools for voice analytics at VoiceBase.
Gregory is a multidisciplinary practitioner whose work bridges artistic expression and technical innovation. He has experience in entrepreneurship, having founded or contributed to startups such as 4by6.com and Rocket Lawyer, and has created interactive experiences for clients including Honda, Disney, and Motorola.
