Giuseppe Falvo is an Associate Professor of Romance Languages (Italian) and Program Director at the University of Maryland's School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. His research focuses on Italian Renaissance literature, with expertise in Dante, Boccaccio, Machiavelli, and Castiglione. He holds a Ph.D. in Italian from Johns Hopkins University (1986). Current projects include studies on courtesy literature in early modern Italy and ritual in Boccaccio's Decameron.
His scholarly contributions include The Economy of Human Relations. Castiglione's 'Libro del Cortegiano' (1992) and entries in the Encyclopedia of the Renaissance (1999).
