George Andreopoulos is Professor of Political Science at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the CUNY Graduate Center. He founded and directs the Center for International Human Rights at John Jay College. With advanced degrees from Cambridge University, his research examines war crimes, international security, human rights, and humanitarian law.
Dr. Andreopoulos has published extensively on human rights advocacy, non-state actors in human rights systems, and constraints on warfare. His current research explores authority reconfigurations in global governance systems and UN counter-terrorism efforts.
He has consulted for international organizations and governmental agencies including the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff and FBI. Dr. Andreopoulos serves as Editor-in-Chief of Human Rights Review and has held leadership positions in professional associations including the International Studies Association.
