Gail Lewis

Gail Lewis is Visiting Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Yale University and Reader Emerita at Birkbeck College. Her scholarship examines black feminism, intersectionality, psychoanalysis, welfare state, and racialised-gendered experience through feminist and anti-racist frameworks.

As a founder of Britain's Organisation of Women of African and Asian Descent and Brixton Black Women's Group, her academic work is informed by decades of activism. She explores themes of identity formation, power dynamics, and social justice through interdisciplinary approaches.
