Francesca Costabile is a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC) under the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome, Italy. She has served as a coordinator in ISAC's Strategic Area on 'Impacts on Environment, Cultural Heritage and Human Health' and has been a contract professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata since 2012, teaching in the Physics Department's Atmospheric Chemodynamics program.
Her research focuses on the interactions between anthropogenic aerosols and planetary health through a one-health approach. She has coordinated over 20 international projects with a total budget of 12.6 million Euros and served as a scientific expert for the European Union (2017–2024) in aviation air quality and health.
She has conducted visiting research at Tsinghua and Peking Universities (China), TROPOS Institute (Germany), and Max Planck Institute (Germany), and authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers as principal author on atmospheric chemodynamics and environmental impacts.
