Prof. Francesca Nanni is a Full Professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Department of Materials Science and Technology. Her research focuses on polymeric composites, additive manufacturing, and multifunctional materials for applications in aerospace, electronics, and sustainability. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers and holds 5 patents, co-founding the spin-off Tecnosens srl. She is an Associate Editor of Functional Composite Materials and has organized international conferences like the IX ECNP Conference on Nanostructured Polymers and Nanocomposites (2016). She leads research agreements with institutions such as the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Polizia di Stato.
Her research interests include 3D printing of advanced materials, sustainable composites, and materials for electromagnetic applications. Notable projects include the development of PEEK-based nanocomposites for space applications and multifunctional biobased resins. She has coordinated over 50 industrial and academic projects, often as Principal Investigator or Scientific Coordinator.
Prof. Nanni received the 2019 Oscar Masi Prize for technology transfer for her work on multifunctional nanocomposites. She is a Board Member of ECNP scarl and actively contributes to scientific commissions globally. Her lab emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, combining material design, characterization, and real-world applications.
