Francesca Alesi, Psy.D., serves as the Clinical Services/Training Coordinator at the University of the District of Columbia's Counseling and Wellness Center. Prior to her academic career, she worked in policy and international relations, managing international scholarship programs for students from the Middle East and North Africa, and has experience as an adjunct faculty member at institutions in the Washington, DC Metro area.
Dr. Alesi adopts a social justice approach to clinical psychology, emphasizing the intersection of sociocultural contexts and therapeutic practices. Her clinical orientation integrates empirically supported interventions with a focus on cultural sensitivity, supporting Black individuals and people of color in healing and resisting systemic racism. She is actively involved in advocacy through the Government Relations Committee at the DC Psychological Association.
Her training spans outpatient medical settings, private practice, inpatient hospitals, and community mental health clinics. She specializes in addressing anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, self-esteem, relationship issues, trauma, and stress management, providing collaborative and personalized care to promote personal growth.
