Fern Middleton

Fern Middleton serves as Lighting Shop Manager & Designer and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Lighting Design at Shenandoah University's Conservatory. They hold an M.F.A. in Drama (Design) from University of North Carolina Greensboro and a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Furman University.

Their artistic practice emphasizes:

• Collaborative devised theatre processes
• Integrating design with performance
• Commedia dell'arte and physical comedy traditions
• Community-engaged performance creation

With over 16 lighting design credits across educational and professional settings, they recently served as Production Designer for UNCG's devised work 'Where•Else'. They maintain active performance/directing practice, including current work as Assistant Director for Traveling Players Ensemble.
