Felice Rivellese

Dr. Felice Rivellese is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, affiliated with the Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology department. He leads the EMR Clinical Research Team, focusing on precision medicine strategies in musculoskeletal health. His academic roles include Principal Investigator (PI) for the EU-funded MDR-RA initiative and NIHR-supported projects.

Education: MD from University of Naples Federico II and PhD in Clinical Pathophysiology/Experimental Medicine from Queen Mary University of London. He has held research fellowships at Leiden University and the Centre of Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology in London.

Research focuses on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) mechanisms, synovial biology, and precision medicine. Key areas include multi-drug resistant RA, synovial B cells, and clinical trial design. He leads major trials like MDR-RA and 3TR, using molecular profiling and histopathology to inform treatment strategies.

Awards include Marie-Curie Fellowship, NIHR Transitional Research Fellowship, and EU grants. His work spans clinical trials, bioinformatics, and translational research, with collaborations across Europe. He chairs EMEUNET committees and serves on EULAR and BSR boards.

Current projects involve understanding stromal cells' role in MDR-RA, socioeconomic impacts on disease outcomes, and developing biomarker-driven therapies. His team includes PhD students and clinical practitioners working on synovial pathotypes and treatment resistance.
