Federica Begalli is a Lecturer in Endocrinology and Education Lead for the Centre for Endocrinology at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), part of the William Harvey Research Institute. She holds a BSc in Biotechnology, an MSc in Medical, Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology (cum laude) from La Sapienza University of Rome, and a PhD in Biomedical Technologies in Clinical Medicine, completed as part of a joint program with Imperial College London.
Her research focuses on uncovering molecular mechanisms underlying tumor development, particularly in Non-Functioning Pituitary Neuroendocrine Tumours, with a translational focus on biomarker discovery and therapeutic strategies. She collaborates with ONO Pharmaceutical and has secured multiple grants from this partnership. Federica is also actively involved in teaching, co-leading modules in Endocrine Physiology and Biochemistry for both domestic and international programs (e.g., Nanchang Joint Programme). She obtained the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2020.
She has mentored numerous students and researchers, including 6 BSc, 1 BMedSci, 3 MSc, 1 MRes, 4 PhD students, and supervised post-doctoral researchers and laboratory technicians. Federica is a member of the British Society for Endocrinology, European Society of Endocrinology, and European Neuroendocrine Association.
