Erin Carr

Erin Carr is an Assistant Professor of Law at Seattle University School of Law, specializing in civil rights, constitutional law, education law and policy, legal history (law and inequality), and legal research and writing. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Florida (2006) and a joint J.D./M.A. from Florida State University (2010), where she concentrated on human rights law and social justice policy.

Carr’s research focuses on educational inequality, juvenile and criminal justice, power dynamics, and constitutional law. Her work explores the intersection of race-based institutional harm, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and the erosion of constitutional protections through structural violence. She also analyzes the impact of higher education rankings on equity and critiques post-Brown America’s educational landscape.

Her publications span critical race perspectives, international affairs, and legal policy, with recent articles addressing educational inequality during the COVID-19 era and reproductive rights jurisprudence. Earlier works examine regional integration in West Africa via ECOWAS.

Carr’s career includes roles as Director of Equal Opportunity and Title IX Programs at Everett Community College, Interim Co-Dean of Student Development, and Associate Director for Career Development at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Prior to academia, she practiced public interest law, representing vulnerable children in Florida’s dependency system and working in complex civil litigation.
