Erik Scollon is Associate Professor and Chair of the First Year Core Studio Program at California College of the Arts. He holds an MFA in Ceramics and MA in Visual and Critical Studies from CCA. His artistic practice examines relationships between functional objects and sculpture through ceramics.
Research explores queer aesthetics and material culture through series including:
- Abstract ceramic forms investigating versatility and relationality
- Vanitas-inspired porcelain works addressing ephemerality
- Collaborative projects like 'Make Words' bridging art pedagogy and everyday experience
Exhibitions include solo shows at Romer Young Gallery exploring temporal permanence through ceramic representations of transient objects. His teaching integrates studio practice with critical theory in foundation art education.
Represented by Romer Young Gallery, his work has been featured in Bay Area Now 5 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and international publications on contemporary ceramics.
