Elly Strik is a Lecturer affiliated with the Bachelor Fine Arts program at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK). She began teaching at age 25 and has been based in Brussels while maintaining strong ties to academic institutions. Her artistic practice focuses on the transformative potential of materials, employing mediums like graphite, pigment, oil paint, ash, and gold/silver leaf to explore themes of human essence and metamorphosis.
Elly holds degrees from Academy Minerva in Groningen and the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Her work emphasizes the intersection of physical creation and philosophical inquiry, probing how art transmits power and resonates across dimensions.
Notable solo exhibitions include M HKA (Antwerp, 1999), De Pont (Tilburg, 2006), Van AbbeMuseum (Eindhoven, 2006), Kunsthalle Mainz (2012), Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid, 2014), and 1700 La Poste (Montreal, 2018). Her achievements include the Philip Morris award, Charlotte Köhler price, and Jeanne Oosting price.
