Alex Avgud is a Russian-born photography artist and educator affiliated with the Royal Academy of Art (KABK), where he contributes to the Bachelor Photography program. His work merges photography with choreographed performances to explore themes of human autonomy, migration, queer sexuality, and political contexts. As an educator, he mentors young talent in initiatives like the Copenhagen Photo Festival and a creative laboratory in Russia for underprivileged youth.
Alex graduated from KABK with a BA in Photography in 2019, winning the Photo Talent Award at the 'Best of Graduates' exhibition. His work has been showcased globally, including at Les Rencontres d’Arles, Unseen Photo Fair, and the Nobel Peace Centre. He is a Laureate of the Dior Photography Award 2020 and has been shortlisted for major photography prizes in Cologne and London.
His artistic practice emphasizes critical engagement with societal issues through visual storytelling. While no formal grants or lab affiliations are noted, his exhibitions and mentorship activities highlight a commitment to both artistic innovation and educational outreach.
