Elizabeth Milroy

Elizabeth Milroy is a Lecturer in Historic Preservation at the University of Pennsylvania's Weitzman School of Design and Professor Emerita at Drexel University and Wesleyan University. Her scholarship explores cultural spaces in the U.S. and Canada, particularly Philadelphia's green infrastructure.

Her award-winning book, The Grid and the River (2016), received the John Brinckerhoff Jackson Prize for contributions to landscape studies. She examines public history through projects like Philadelphia's park systems and William Penn's legacy.

Service roles include membership on Philadelphia's Historical Commission Committee on Historic Designation and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania Board of Councilors.
