Elizabeth Leer is a Professor of Education and Department Chair of Education at St. Olaf College. She holds a BA from Concordia College, an MA in English Literature from Northern Illinois University, and completed doctoral work in English Education at the University of Minnesota. Prior to academia, she taught middle/high school English and German for 6 years and coached track and cross-country.
Her research focuses on infusing multicultural education—particularly through literature—into homogeneous educational environments. At St. Olaf, she teaches courses such as Principles of Education, communication arts methods, and interim courses like Multicultural Education in Hawaii. She previously taught at the University of Minnesota Duluth before joining St. Olaf.
Leer emphasizes practical pedagogy and community engagement in her work. No scientific awards are listed, but her contributions to teacher education and multicultural curricula are central to her career.
