Garrick Larson serves as Head Coach for Men's Outdoor Track & Field at Concordia College, Moorhead since 1993 and Assistant Women's Track & Field coach, previously leading Men's Cross Country from 1997-2018. His tenure includes coaching 14 men's NCAA Division III All-Americans and 23 women's All-American award recipients.
Academic credentials include a Biology degree from St. Olaf College (1991), graduate studies in Exercise Science (Kinesiology) at the University of Minnesota (1991-1993), and a Master of Education from North Dakota State University (2015).
Larson's professional focus centers on athletic performance optimization through evidence-based training methodologies in track and field. His expertise spans biomechanics of jumping/throwing events, endurance physiology, and strength conditioning protocols, informed by his dual perspective as a former multi-event collegiate athlete and certified strength specialist.
Professional recognition includes MIAC Coach of the Year honors in 1999 (Cross Country) and 2020 (Track & Field), alongside his student-athlete achievements: 20 All-Conference honors, 3 conference titles, and NCAA Championship appearances in five events during his senior year at St. Olaf.
As an educator, Larson taught in Concordia's Department of Physical Education, Health, and Exercise Science from 1993-2018 while maintaining active coaching roles. His teams consistently produced MIAC champions, with 31 indoor and 24 outdoor individual titles under his leadership.
