Dr. Abigail Larson is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Outdoor Recreation at Southern Utah University. She holds a Master of Exercise Science from Northern Michigan University and a Doctorate in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Utah. Certified as a sports specialist dietitian, strength and conditioning specialist, and registered dietitian, Larson combines her athletic background with academic expertise.
Her teaching focuses on courses such as Sports Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Clinical Applications of Exercise, and Research Methods. Larson’s research interests span nutrition, sports medicine, and exercise therapy, with over 40 articles and 15 publications to her name. She actively engages in the community through ski clinics and emphasizes applied problem-solving in her teaching, aiming to instill a passion for lifelong learning in students.
Larson’s athletic career includes competing in the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team (Cross Country Skiing), four All-American titles, and the U.S. National Championship (2005). She has presented research at 14 conferences and serves on university committees, including campus allies initiatives. Beyond academia, she enjoys outdoor activities like mountain biking and hiking in Utah’s landscapes.
