Durwin Talon

Durwin Talon is an Associate Professor and Area Coordinator for Illustration at the Department of Visual & Media Arts, Grand Valley State University. He specializes in illustration, comic book creation, and graphic design, with professional experience at major companies like DC Comics and Wizards of the Coast. His academic roles include teaching courses such as History of Illustration, Mentorship in Illustration, and Advanced Illustration. Talon holds an MFA from the University of Hartford, an MA from Syracuse University, and a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

His creative work includes co-creating Bonds for Image Comics and Beautiful Scars for Archaia Comics. He is also involved in educational initiatives, focusing on mentorship and foundational arts training. Talon’s office is located in the Alexander Calder Fine Arts Center.
