Drew Chastain

Drew Chastain is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Loyola University New Orleans. His research focuses on spirituality and meaning in life, bridging religious and secular perspectives. He explores how humor, ethics, cultural traditions, and personal connections intersect with these themes.

Dr. Chastain's work spans philosophy of spirituality, meaning in life, applied ethics, and philosophy of humor. He examines Lakota traditions, William James’ secularism, and existential questions through lenses like MST3K. His recent articles address self-acceptance humor, life extension, and the subjective nature of personal meaning.

His publications include analyses of humor’s role in existential absurdity, sacredness in secular terms, and critiques of Bernard Williams’ views on immortality. He also reviews transhumanist debates and advocates for moderate technological experimentation.
