About
Dipanjan Majumdar is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London, affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering. His research focuses on enhancing the parallel efficiency of the uDALES large-eddy simulation model for urban microclimate studies, particularly integrating vegetation modeling in computational fluid dynamics simulations of built environments. His work is funded by the EPSRC ExCALIBUR project.
Education:
- B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours), Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India (2011-2015)
- M.S. & Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras (2015-2022)
Research Interests: Urban fluid mechanics, unsteady aerodynamics, nonlinear dynamics, computational fluid and structural dynamics, high performance computing, and fluid-structure interaction. His doctoral work at IIT Madras involved developing an in-house Navier-Stokes solver (FSIS-IBM) using the immersed boundary method to study bio-inspired flapping foils and chaotic wake transitions.
Articles Trends: His publications emphasize immersed boundary methods, flapping foil dynamics, chaos in fluid systems, and LES modeling. Recent work highlights applications in urban microclimate simulations and surrogate modeling for unsteady flows.
Labs & Teams: Previously part of the Biomimetics and Dynamics Laboratory at IIT Madras. Currently contributes to Imperial's Fluid Mechanics section under Prof. Maarten van Reeuwijk.
