Diogo Pinheiro

Diogo Pinheiro is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of North Georgia (UNG) Gainesville Campus and serves as Assistant Director for the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Emory University (2010), an M.A. in Sociology from Emory (2006), and a B.S. in Economics from UFMG-Brazil (2001). His research focuses on economic and cultural factors influencing inequality, particularly in education and scientific careers, analyzing institutional structures, social networks, and market processes.

Key research interests include sociology of science, globalization's socio-economic impacts, and cultural dimensions of economic systems. He has published widely on academic labor markets, global financial policies, and creative industries. Notable contributions include studies on underrepresentation in academia and the role of early career publishing in scholarly success.
