Dennis Meyer

Dennis Meyer is a freelance theatre professional, lecturer, and mentor in theatre education and directing at the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) and Toneelacademie Maastricht. He co-initiated the international art project 10CHILDREN, addressing poverty through theatre, and advises institutions like the Performing Arts Fund NL. His work spans theatre policy, grant applications, and organizational development.

He holds a Master’s degree in Dutch Language and Literature and Theatre Studies from 1983. His research focuses on intercultural theatre, youth theatre, and the societal role of theatre, as seen in projects like 10CHILDREN’s case studies in Cleveland, Cape Town, and Cucumba.

Meyer’s publications include analyses of intercultural theatre projects and historical studies of Dutch theatre movements. He has advised multiple cultural funds and served on numerous boards, contributing to talent development and innovation in theatre.

As part of the Research Group Arts Education, he explores strategies to bridge theatre and societal issues, emphasizing community engagement and educational outreach.
