Demetia Hopkins is a Lecturer in Dance at the University of Virginia and Co-Artistic Director at the Orange School of Performing Arts, where she received early training under Ricardo Porter. She holds an MFA from Hollins University and a BFA from Fordham University, graduating with honors in 2009 as a member of Ailey II.

Her research and practice focus on contemporary dance pedagogy, choreographic innovation, and community engagement. She has performed globally with prestigious companies including the Francesca Harper Project, Project-Inc, and Sleep No More at the McKittrick Hotel.

Ms. Hopkins has taught and set choreography in schools across the U.S. and internationally, while assisting pioneering choreographer Dianne McIntyre administratively and artistically since 2019.
